Record an Auto Attendant (IVR)

There are three options available for a user that wishes to produce recordings for an Auto Attendant or IVR.

  • Use a microphone with a computer and record from the web interface (Manage UM Account).
  • Record a voicemail, that will e-mail the voicemail as an MP3 attachment.
  • Use a smartphone application, that can record to MP3 or support file types.

Microphone on PC

To record from a computer, please do the following:

  • Have a working microphone installed on the computer to record from.
  • Update Java Security Settings to run the Java application from Manage UM Account (Auto Attendant).
  • Go to the account that will play the Auto Attendant.
  • (1) Go to Service Features tab --> (2) Voice Calls/Incoming Calls --> (3) Manage UM Account.

  • A tab will open. From the (4) last icon, select (5) UM Preference from the dropdown menu.

  • Accept Java  Security Warning by (6) checking the box and clicking (7) "Run".

  • Select (8) Auto Attendant from the Mode Tab

  • From the last icon, select (9) Auto Attendant from the dropdown menu.

  • Click (10) ROOT (accept Java Security Warning)

  • For the next steps, the user will see the following screen (ROOT Auto Attendant) but the area in the red box is what will be focused on.

  • Find (11) "Menu" and select (12) "Custom" and click the (13) record icon.

  • Press the (14) stop icon when done recording.

  • Press the (15) play icon to hear the recording.
  • Click (16) Save & Close to complete.

 

 

Voicemail Attachment (MP3)

  • Using the voicemail-to-email feature, leave the recording for the Auto Attendant as a voicemail
  • It will then be e-mailed as an MP3 attachment.
  • To upload the MP3 file go to (1) Service Features tab --> (2) Voice Calls/Incoming Calls --> (3) Manage UM Account.

  • From the last icon, select (4) Auto Attendant from the dropdown menu.

  • Click (5) ROOT (accept Java Security Warning (6-7))

  • Find "Menu" and select (8) "Custom" and click (9) "Choose File" to upload the MP3 file.
  • Click (10) Save & Close to complete.

 

Record from Smartphone App

Record from your smartphone using an App that can save or export to MP3 or a supported file type. Once the file is available to upload, follow the steps in Voicemail Attachment (MP3) to upload the file.
